   OMG i love German Shepherds so much, i’ll always boost them when i see them on #DogsOfMastodon. i hate cops who use them. sheppies were never meant to attack humans, on the contrary, their instincts have always been to herd us. i grew up with a sheppie and to this day i miss my brother-dog.

     @_L1vY_ police dogs are abused. all of them. no dog wants to hunt humans. herder dogs in particular just want to herd you and keep you safe. you have to abuse dogs to turn them into attack dogs.

     @blogdiva @_L1vY_ True story: a Girl Scout troop I helped lead had a K9 cop and his dog visit to talk about their work. One of the moms in the audience was a veterinarian, and after the cop and his dog had left, she quietly briefed the scouts on all the signs of stress and maladjustment the dog had been showing while he was there. She said these police dogs never live long and happy lives.
