In case you're wondering why metalhead.club was offline for an hour yesterday: We ran out of storage on the Mastodon DB filesystem.
That was because I underestimated the effect of deleting data of dead instances and removed remote accounts. There's "tootclt accounts cull" for that.
... Which results in a lot of removed database records. Which again results in a way bigger diff of more than 180 GB on the filesystem layer.
Usually that's not a problem - except for the case when you use snapshots on your filesystem. Changing 180 GB effectively means _adding_ 180 GB, which filled the primary storage.
Well. I keep on learning that lesson again and again 😅
