   It’s painful to lose community like that. And of course such personal loss is one of the desired outcomes of divide-and-conquer strategies like those employed in recent years by the likes of Putin and Trump against everyone left of fascist.

     Indeed, yes, as you point out: community is capacity is power; losing community is more than a personal injurty.
