     @darkandandstormy well, I've had an interesting conversation with someone who works in relevant EU bureaucracy, and he assures me that she wasn't the main force here, the EU nations were, and they are driven by farmers.

     @glynmoody I don't think the EU nations are driven by farmers.

     Yes, there are some very influential "farmers" like DBV-President Rukwied (German Farmers' Association). He was also leading the European Association a few years ago and is a member of the conservative German CDU party, just like von der Leyen.

     Goals of lobbyists like him might have aligned with her personal opinion this time. Think nothing happens in the EU anymore without her blessing.
