@bombniks @AnarchoNinaWrites That's what happens when you teach people that fascism = bad, but you don't define exactly what it consists of. Fascism is bad because all my life I've been told so, but what is exactly fascism?
That's why actual fascists are getting away when they criticise government policies. Suddenly, regulating the market, protecting minorities against defamation, even investigating past and present genocides, have become fascist things.

@nasd1066 @bombniks I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to in the 2nd paragraph, but simply put Americans and Americanized Westerners are not taught what fascism is because if you explore it any further than "funny moustache and Hug Boss uniforms" folks might start to recognize exactly how much fascist ideology the western capitalist nations they live in have incorporated.
It was not useful to McCarthyism or the Cold War to teach people what fascism is anymore.

@nasd1066 @bombniks Yeah, I get what you're saying now. That having been said, please keep in mind that nazis been asking if fighting nazis is the *real* tyranny/fascism since before Hitler took power in Germany.

@AnarchoNinaWrites @bombniks Yeah, post WW2 it wasn't politically profitable to talk about it anymore. Too many similarities in the US, too many fascist friends abroad.

@AnarchoNinaWrites @bombniks And what I was referring to in the 2nd paragraph was that, if you don't define what's fascism beyond a vague term for an authoritarian state, then the term is as pliable as plasticine, and it can be used against an actually progressive government.
So you can, for example, have the free speech guys complain about how a government is fascist when a new law protecting a minority against fake news is drafted.
