   I used to follow this guy on Twitter. He worked at the State Dept in consular services and he has really smart things to say about how things went down from the inside.

     @b_cavello it’s hard to guard against burnout working inside the Death Star when your values just don’t align in many ways every day when the consequences of the fuckery impacts real people in such real ways like at an embassy. I’m sure there will be more bodies to replace him, for now I’m enjoying his work on the behind the scenes world

     @skinnylatte This person sounds smart and righteous, but I think that people quitting is exactly what we don’t need. Sure, reducing harm is not as good as altogether preventing it, but I think we have to be honest about what options we have.
     It’s much easier to destroy a death star from inside. The more people who leave, the less leverage there will be.

     @b_cavello he was like, ‘I can’t even prove to my own country that India’s biggest movie star is not a terrorist’, and I think that level of absurdity is just hard to live with sometimes. I’m thankful for people who can and will stay and fight, but I’m also aware of why sometimes you have to step aside to protect yourself.
