   One of the arguments Democrats put forth to swiftly concede an election and smile for photo ops with the Republicans they decried as fascists for months, is that norms and precedent should be respected, and if the public suffer, it's a price they're willing to pay. Civility and collegiality, etc.

     So if Biden is willing to "violate" norms for his son, why isn't he willing to do so for democracy? At this point, what the hell is stopping him from doing something--anything!--to protect millions of people at risk from deportation, poverty, illness, political revenge, and violence?

     Biden pardoning his son in the hopes that Trump et al can't/won't stage a spectacle trial flies in the face of this. It's the same self-interest that Republicans use ever more openly in the age of Trump; it's what put Javanka in possession of state secrets and risked national security.
