     Dragon Ball Z didn't even air in America until Toonami 98 on Cartoon Network. Aeon Flux was around way before that I would say 1993/94 if my memory serves me right.

     Honestly it was the only anime style show from America that ever had success. The oldheads may remember Aeon Flux on MTV's Liquid Television as being an honorable mention.

     Yeah the anime scene became mainstream around that time but it was limited to Hollywood Video rentals and Toonami on cartoon network. An honorable mention was Saturday Night Anime on the Scifi Channel this was 92-93 era.
