After all, this is a *public* network, messages will be sent willy nilly to anyone. Yes, scraping is harder on fedi but it still is possible and I wouldn't be surprised if the NSA was already doing it.

Yes, there are follower-only posts and whatnot but that relies on the server being honest and truthful, which is meaningless anyway.
