   After a mere month on Weibo, I already understand why the Chinese authorities "cracked down" on some parts of fandom in China. The deliberate spreading of rumors to tar celebrities so that their idol can gain an "upper hand" is honestly reprehensible. Some of the rumours can be career destroying.
   Cyberbullying of celebrities is so rife in S. Korea that celebrities kill themselves. 1/2

     Yet, I don't see S. Korean authorities doing anything substantial. Anyway, the deliberate tarring of celebs by fandom is getting so bad in China, that I am surprised, touch wood, that celebrity suicides is not happening (at least from I can see).
     It's 2024, and it's still happening, with gossip accounts just letting loose mean comments & unverified rumours. However, I also see accounts being banned & perpetrators punished by the law, so that's a good thing. 2/2

I understand you have such deep, weird, irrational hatred for China that for some reason it triggers you to a weird, racist rage on a thread about #Kdramas #Cdramas and cyberbullying but I'm not interested yeah?      This is such a strange thing to me, but it seems like this venting of hatred is in so many cultures at this time. I hope for a shift away from this in my lifetime. I wonder if this has always been with us, but now has a way of being more visible as we are able to communicate more widely. Such a sad use of the gift of communication!
