     @cassissilly genuinely the best thing i have foudn so far is a stackexchange post https://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/48952/why-does-the-salvation-army-not-administer-the-sacraments-of-baptism-and-the-lor

     basically they dont think it is necessary and felt that christianity was getting too obsessed with material rites

     @cassissilly they explain not practicing any sacrament by saying “well we dont want to tempt recovering alcoholics back to alcohol” (this was before methodists, from which they split, invented grape juice i think) you may notice this does not explain the lack of baptism at all and this is because i cannot find the justification for that? seems like they saw the two as a package deal as far as i can tell

     this is far from the worst thing about the salvation army (that would be the way they often treat people) but they bug me from a religious standpoint as well. they are technically a christian denomination but dont even baptize. also the whole military thing is deeply gross to me.
