The Danes use psychometric tests to test the fitness of mothers, and take them away if they don’t pass. A Greenlandic mother had her baby taken away after two hours.
WTF

@jik there are definitely similar things happening in the U.S. with child welfare and its relationship with race, and also various horrific means testing for poor people that are correlated with race, just much more complex to write about in one horrific article
@skinnylatte My first thought upon reading this article was how horrific it is for the mother reported upon here and others in her situation.
My second thought was, what about the fathers? Are the fathers tested? Was the father tested in this case?
And my third thought was that about 30% of the population of the United States would be totally ok with this happening here, with tests based on politics or religion (indeed, the U.S. has taken away many babies throughout its history).
@krazykitty Denmark is where I got poked with an umbrella and told by old ladies that I’m standing in the wrong line for food and Chow Chow Box is over there. Just a very weird take on race that I don’t understand because I’m not from there, but probably deeply frustrating to minorities who are from there, and definitely of the ‘but we are all progressive and we don’t see color’ variety but saying something is racist is more horrific than the actual racism
@skinnylatte We have this image of tolerant, leftist Scandinavian people but they're very, very racist (especially so in Denmark).
In which I continue to say WTF
@skinnylatte holy mother of Zeus. Ain’t nobody’s hands clean when it comes to indigenous cultures.
