Is it normal for MIDI sustain pedals to be switches (on or off) rather than having a range depending on how far you push it down? (I aquired a cheap one that only does on/off and I wondered if it's just because it's a cheap one or not)

@psychicparrot42 I suspect it's standard because piano sustain pedals are basically on/off (since they control physical dampeners that are either touching or not touching, there's not much in between)

Yeah, there are piano pedals and guitar pedals. The guitar ones have a range. The piano ones don't. Both are correct in terms of how the actual thing works.
