    @phryk I hope to have UBI enacted locally before I get to that point...

    Otherwise, we'll see...

      @phryk I have got a couple parties interested, including a semi-major one.

      But unfortunately National won't work with the Greens, no matter how many votes Greens got.

      And I will remark: I hope it doesn't leave the current economic intact! I hope once we no longer need a job near as much, we can reshape how we work!

      @alcinnz Ye, that's kind of the only way I see that at least *mostly* leaves the current economic system intact and doesn't just let a double digit percentage of the population languish in poverty and/or outright starve.

      Honestly I'm kind of amazed that pension collapse isn't a way bigger topic. I learned about the mathematical impossibility to keep pension systems going as-is in, like, seventh grade econ/politics classes in school and that was over 20 years ago.

      @alcinnz

      And all local politicians (at least here) do is pushing up the pension age further and further.

      Which, besides being a major violation of the "social contract" that's forced on us by the state, is just a recipe for disaster and obviously not sustainable – it's a shortsighted non-solution.
