@sicp You know what would be a good idea? Dual booting one systemd-less distro with another! GRUB exists for a reason, y'know? If I want to use Void, I could do that. If I want to use Slackware, the ol' reliable since '93, I could go right ahead and shove it onto a seperate SSD. Thanks for the suggestion, guujyon!

@tsubocchi @sicp That is a proprietary distro though?

Not that I use it, but systemd is at least free software.

      Slackware is nonfree too; https://www.gnu.org/distros/common-distros.html#Slackware

There is of course a freed version called freenix.

@sicp @tsubocchi >if it used to have xv it doesn't anymore
      It is still there; https://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/slackware64-15.0/extra/xv/

It appears xv is shipped in the base install, making slackware proprietary and how you have to manually compile it is irrelevant.

      >GRUB is a PITA to set up correctly
GRUB just werks on my machines.

      I just need to run `grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

@tsubocchi I always just used LILO since it's what the Slackware installer recommends and it works (it gives you both options), whereas GRUB is a PITA to set up correctly.
