   Now imagine that they choose to arrest Netanyahu. This is the only legal choice, but unfortunately some countries within NATO are opposed to the warrant, not in the least the US. Even #Biden opposes it, but if this happens when #Trump is president, all bets are off. It could result in a speedy withdrawal from NATO for the US, assuming The Netherlands don't cave under the pressure first.

   Result: either #NATO is destroyed, or again the ICC is severely weakened to the point of irrelevance. 🧵 3/

     Let's say they choose to let Netanyahu walk. Then we are in the situation that the country hosting the ICC doesn't respect its warrants.

     Say goodbye to all authority of that court then. It will also sow tremendous discord between #EU member states, possibly to the point of destabilizing it.

     The result is that the ICC is dead and the EU severely weakened.

     It seems to me that the #ICC warrant gives #Netanyahu tremendous power to damage the ICC itself, as well as #NATO and the #EU.

     Let's say for argument's sake that Netanyahu decides to take a little trip to Amsterdam tomorrow (or even worse, the day after the #Trump inauguration). What would happen? After internal discord in the Dutch government, only two outcomes are possible: they arrest him, or they don't. Sadly, both options are disastrous in the current international context. 🧵 1/
