   @Sir_Osis_of_Liver This country was once the envy of educators everywhere, with its amazing educational institutions (built on slavery and torture of human beings, but that's another story.

   We have turned over our country to illiterate children we have failed to care for and we don't want to be held accountable.

     All empires fall, either from without or from within. The end can come very suddenly.

     Of all the possible outcomes, being bought out by the Russians and/or Chinese wasn't in my top ten.

     The contagion has migrated north too. I have a bad feeling about our upcoming election.

     We've got a mini-Trump and his acolytes who've usurped the old moderate conservative party, while whatever remains of the moderates just make excuses that they won't be that bad.

     @Sir_Osis_of_Liver Willful ignorance and stupidity. Most of us do this at one time or another. It's so common, it has a name - confirmation bias. We look for news that confirms our biases because that means we don't have to THINK about our choices. Thinking is hard work. America uses alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, and any drugs it can to ignore the fact that over half our fellow-citizens can barely read and write. 1/2...
