   I should say I have been looking at https://nix-community.github.io/nixpkgs-update/ and I think it doesn’t tell the whole story about this amazing achievement.

     @stuebinm Most up-to-date distro according to https://repology.org/ (despite being also the biggest).

     There’s a very large number of contributors but a very large number of packages too. :-)

     @civodul is it the most up-to-date distro? from my experience contributing to it (though i haven't done anything for a few months now) it's still common for many packages (esp. leaf packages) to fall (sometimes wildly) out of date. then again, i have no experience with contributing to any other distro except (very little) with guix, so i'm not sure how this compares to other distros …
     
     at a guess, i'd say it's the automated pull requests combined with the (afaict, compared to other distros) very large number of contributors — or at least i always got the impression that the comparatively much smaller number of people working on guix made it less up to date sometimes, but that's just a hunch
