you ever feel like. hypertext is supposed to be a thing written by people. or authored using a rich-text editor or something. but like, making a program that emits html on-demand. it's just not really it, is it? like you call up the server and ask it for a file and it's like "yeah sure i do happen to have a file with that name" and then it just makes up any old bullshit and sends it to you. it seems like that goes against the design, like it's a hack. we all just accept it. but it's wrong. imo

josef (jk@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 22-Nov-2024 05:22:23 JST josef like i feel like it should be allowed, but as a weird hacky thing that people do as a novelty thing. like "check it out, each time you refresh this page the servers sends something different" "hah thats cool. anyway. time to get back to some actual hypertexting where we make sites with content and stuff"
