    *shrugs*

Most of you aren't old enough to remember the 70's and 80's when America's official position on the UN and international courts was "fuck em" and some of you aren't even old enough to remember when Bush passed a law to thunderous bipartisan applause allowing him to fucking INVADE the Hague to protect American and US-backed war criminals.

The ICC warrants are important because naming the beast is important; but the US will go full rogue state before it complies.

@AnarchoNinaWrites We did a demo on Scheveningen beach back then with sand bags and "guarding the coast" against the US invasion.

@AnarchoNinaWrites Yeah, the Hague Invasion Act is really something more folks should learn about. US has long thumbed noses at international laws. Like Israel, they are arrogant & won't stop their exceptionalism crap unless forced to by multiple nations.

@justafrog I just mean that a lot of Americans are acting like the US is a member of international justice bodies out of some respect or moral obligation for the process, so these rulings will force their hand. The reality is that "human rights" is a term we use to club our enemies and create justification for imperialism - when those same bodes come for us or our allies, we respond the same way Putin does - and always have.

@AnarchoNinaWrites At the very least, it's a big moment because finally something official said the g-word applies to them.

You don't get tried for genocide unless it looks really likely.

And also a vindication for South Africa et al who wanted to see if white people can be tried in that court, too.

But yeah, physically arresting people, probably not happening.
