@zonk i'm honestly shocked that mistral is able to compete with openai and anthropic (although they also have people in the US). but the issue will be that those engineers can probably 3x their salary by just going to the US to work for any of these companies.

@zonk the inability of euro companies to IPO is part of the issue, but no matter how much money you have, in the end you have to make a profit, and that's just much harder for european companies, given how well regulated they are. I guess that Mistral will fully move to a different legislation in the next years.

@lain the existing players have basically unlimited money and infrastructure, and that'll be doubly true after their inevitable ipos. but you are right, it's funny how even small fish can compete in this space
