Honestly, just thinking that the Channel Tunnel – a train-first breathtaking and very complicated infrastructure project – actually got planned and built, is astonishing from today's perspective
Most European nations struggle with much smaller and less ambitious plans, suffering constant delays, lack of funding and broad public disbelief that anything is going to get built ever
Especially when it comes to trains and not car or plane infrastructure
That's messed up how much the priorities have shifted
We would NOT be getting Channel Tunnel today, I'm near fucking sure of that
