   I want to say I'd rather get ass cancer than give money to Microsoft but I really just mean I don't want to, I aready gave them money for Windows 11 (gross) for a VM on my Mac.

     @mangeurdenuage @sun windows has never been gratisware - you've always had to pay.

     microsoft is even trying to turn the OS itself into a subscription.
     
     Most computer hardware that you buy has a percent that goes to microsoft, so even if you don't use windows, you are paying for it unless you do not buy new hardware.

     At any time microsoft can and will revert to x days to pay up - they did that to the Chinese previously.

     If you want to recommend an activator, the only moral way to do that would be to advise that you should install GNU/Linux instead, but if someone is set on surrendering their freedom, you can advise the activator so microsoft doesn't get more money.
     
     Recommending the "purchase" of windows keys is always immoral, no matter how cheap the keys are.

     @sun @mangeurdenuage Why? Just get the latest iso on https://uupdump.net and without a key you just get the activate Windows text and some limited customization
     and keys are mega cheap anyway
