my father had a degree in sociology. he had a degree in media communications. he had a degree in theology. this informs the statement I'm about to make:

we should have way more sociologists at every layer of society, right next to the ethicists we should have way more of at every layer of society.

the path to that day, in my opinion, does not involve more credentialed sociologists or ethicists, but the incorporation of more of their body of work into the lives of more members of society.
