Currently the advantages of #Mastodon/Fediverse:
- Generous character limits
- Open protocol
- Bookmarks!
- Follow/mute hashtags (perfect for events)
- Temporary muting
- Defederation of spam servers and other unpleasantries
- Hiding reposts
- Muting conversations
- Culture of alt text (do better though!)
- Content warnings

Missing:
Some communities need better protection against hidden abuse.
