I just completed the German #Duolingo course, and I still can't understand a word anyone says, nor can I form a decent, rudimentary, error-free sentence. Duolingo's good for passive knowledge acquisition but useless for active.

  @Richard_Littler Congrats on completing the course!
  Duolingo is actually working pretty well for me in French. I’ve gone from nothing to being able to have a halting conversation.
