   What you’re leaving out is that Israel is under attack every day. The only reason that they have fewer deaths is that the state actually took care to build shelters for the civilian population.

   Also that Hamas could have stopped the war every day this year by laying down the weapons. But if Israel would lay down the weapons, all Israelis would get killed.

     @matthewtoad43 Has there been a week this year in which Israel wasn’t attacked with rockets?

     For a political solution, the attacks on Israel must stop. It would have been the international communities job to prevent these attacks in the first place. It decided that (resolution 1701¹). And it failed.

     If you want Israel to adhere to UN resolutions, you also have to make sure that its attackers adhere to them.

     International law cannot just apply to one side.
