@okpierre.bsky.social If the older and more mature "Nomadic" identity was included in ActivityPub, there won't be such an issue. In fact, it's superior than ATproto's.
Nomadic:
1. You have control where your identity and content exists.
2. It respects account & content permissions.
3. Your content is duplicated live on the servers _you_ have chosen.
4. If your primary instance goes down temporarily, just use the other servers and continue where you left off.
5. If your primary instance goes down permanently, just pick one of your chosen servers and continue as usual after making it your primary.
No export/import. You retain complete control where your account/content lives. If your servir goes down, just continue as usual in another server.
You can see it in action or test it in any #Hubzilla (FLOSS licensed) and #Streams (Public Domain) instance. When ActivityPub 2.0 implements it, the Fediverse will have a superior account portability feature than ATproto or anyone else. 😉
