There are still many low-cost coffee vendors (just a little over $1) and $1 pastry stands at subway stations. Even though many locals complain that Seoul’s cost of living has risen dramatically, it is still a very economical city compared to major cities in other developed western countries, though fruits and meats are significantly more expensive.

They are very much an Asian style of bread. Western staples like sourdough, water-boiled bagels, unprocessed cheeses, and fruits like avocado are less common and often come with a hefty ‘foreigner price’ here, as they are not very popular.

And you can even get a high quality, milk and espresso drink from a local roaster for 3,000 KRW! It’s only expensive if you go to places with really expensive rent!
