I’m going to post this even tho I already retooted it from the original poster, b/c it’s so important.
I campaigned for Bernie in the primaries in 2016. I was being bombarded with anti-Hillary videos on FB and I believed them, to the point I almost didn’t vote for her. Fortunately since I have ADHD and voracious reading is how I get my dopamine, I also read a ton of established mainstream media content, and was able to (eventually) see past the propaganda. I was lucky.

It’s ramped up since then, and we are all susceptible. Russian propaganda has moved far beyond influencing our elections. They are trying to destroy our morale and our unity, not just as a country, but throughout the West.
It’s not just about taking down our government from within. It’s about making each of us, personally, feel depressed, outraged, and isolated, by fabricating stories on the left and right, and blowing small differences out of proportion.

This implies an interesting corollary, toward which I’m already inclined. They recognize that it doesn’t matter what we fight about as long as we fight and distrust each other.
That would suggest it also doesn’t matter what we care for as long as we care. To act lovingly, even on a small scale and with no obvious connection to politics, directly undermines their efforts.
