   @KimPerales Several of my family members were paralyzed from polio.

   My grandfather had to quit school in the 7th grade, because he had to take care of his younger sister who contracted polio.

     Polio vaccines were provided in public schools. Polio was dangerous: some become temporarily paralyzed; for others: permanent.

     70 years ago, polio was one of the most feared diseases in the US. Children from Arsenal Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA received the 1st injections of the new polio vaccine dev. by Dr Salk in 1954.
