Populism offers some redistribution, but sadopopulism offers only the spectable of others being more deprived.

Sadopopulism salves the pain by directing attention to those who suffer more.

Sadopopulism bargains not in resources, but offering various degrees of pain, and a permission to enjoy the suffering of others.
