Notice that vast island off of the North American continent? That's the fabled "Island of California", it's a cartographic error that could carry an interesting lesson. Numerous early explorers dismissed the fantastical myth of an island filled with Amazon women and gold, they set foot on it & disproved it! But the officials back in Europe felt sure of the story & ignored first hand accounts. We can get trapped by stories, even in the face of facts.
