    Virus, take the wheel.

Have there been studies investigating whether repeated COVID infections lead to a reduced willingness to take basic precautions like wearing masks? Because it really feels like we've got a Cordyceps / Toxoplasmosis situation going on here.

@genehack I implore you and everyone reading this to strike the phrase "post-pandemic" from your vocabulary because we are not.

@jwz maybe just post-pandemic effects in general?

@texhewson Yeah they'd have to show a correlation with number of re-infections that was de-coupled from mere passage of time, and that sounds like tricky data.

But the study showing a possible loss of 3-10 IQ points per infection might cover it. https://www.jwz.org/blog/2024/11/ripley/

@jwz I feel like there'd be a confusing mess of cause and effect here. If you can't be bothered with safety measures,.you'd be more likely to get COVID. It would take quite some control to detect a reduction in use of precautions because of infection rather than because of society in general getting more relaxed. So I'd be interested if you found any studies.

@jwz Multiple studies have proven masks don't work. So why are you making it an issue?
