The responsibility for spending Kamala Harris' campaign funds and incurring $20 million in debt is attributed to her campaign team. The campaign reportedly spent heavily during the election period, which included significant investments in advertising, travel, and polling[^1][^2]. Additionally, there were claims of financial mismanagement and misleading donors about the campaign's prospects[^3][^4]. The campaign raised substantial funds, reportedly over $1 billion, but still ended in debt[^5][^6].

The people she hired to run her campaign spent the money, that's who. The people Trump hired did it with half the budget and finished with cash left over. This is all very telling. The president's job is to hire good people and manage the budget.
Yea I assumed that obv but do they even have access to credit? Or did they just not pay ppl which is such a bad look. Theres no point suing if they have no money tho
I can't get a straight answer out of the AI but "the campaign" is a legal organization that owes the debt, no one is personally liable. Im not really sure what happens now. I suppose the owed parties could sue The Campaign
They probably don't have assets adding up to that amount but idk maybe, I also doubt anyone is donating to a failed campaign. The last bit is just obvious
Ok I searched for this specifically, and apparently the only recourse is to liquidate any assets the campaign has and for them to continue raising funds to pay debt. Sounds like that is already happening
>The campaign committee, as the legal entity responsible for the campaign's finances, would be the defendant in any lawsuit. The creditors would need to prove that the campaign owes them money and has failed to meet its financial obligations.
> Significant unresolved debt can impact the candidate's or campaign committee's ability to raise funds in the future, as donors may be wary of contributing to a campaign with a history of financial mismanagement.
