   Well I have been out of the country for a while so I missed when Colorado passed a amendment to their state constitution to end involuntary servitude

   Nebraska, Utah, Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee and Vermont have all changed their constitutions

   California is close, and we have ~25 of the votes left to count

   Just this election, Nevada passed Prop3 changing theirs, did hear about it?

   Unfortunately, like high-speed trains, this runs up against the limits of our democracy

     @SabiLewSounds Well, in the case of prison, if you do not comply you are beaten. If you continue to not comply, you are put in solitary.

     So, if you do not work you are tortured.

     Wage slavery is awful, and has its own downsides/upsides but its hard to compare the too; except for say immigrant workers or other at-risk groups that employers regularly take advantage of and often have no recourse.

     @ekis exactly the criminal system is slavery, it was always meant for slavery

     Slavery has never ended it's only more and more sinister

     Coporate slavery is simply voluntary
