* Why do so many white women vote for someone that is clearly against women's rights?
* Why do so many people with undocumented relatives, vote for someone promising mass deportation of the undocumented?
* Why do so many Ukrainian Americans, vote for someone that promises to force Ukraine to stop defending itself?
* Why do so many Indian Americans, vote for someone that promises to install an immigration head that wants anti-Indian policies?

The answer of course is that many people want fascism for the groups that they don't like, but compassion for themselves.🤷🏿♂️
Each of these groups thinks that they will be able to unleash a face-eating leopard on others, but train it to not eat their face.

The number of interviews with voters I have read where they say, "But not me/my mom/my employee," like there is an exception built into the law that protects the faces of the "good people" from the leopards. But yes, a lot of American white women are willing to trade some of their rights for the benefits of being related to white men in a white supremacist society. No part of that has ever appealed to me personally but I know I'm in the minority

@kasperd @mekkaokereke whoa there. I don't see anything like a verbal attack or misrepresentation in Mekka's reply. I agree with him, I was also baffled at US women acting to take away women's rights and I couldn't understand it until I added race to my understanding. Women of color on average vote for women's rights overwhelmingly. But a majority of white women vote against women's rights because they get white supremacy along with it, and they think it is worth the trade

What I see is not somebody being right. I see somebody verbally attacking me and misrepresenting what I said.
I stand by what I said: "What I cannot comprehend is why a large number of women will vote for somebody who is obviously against women's rights."
If anyone thinks they can explain that without resorting to personal attacks I will listen. But that doesn't mean I will ever think it was sensible for those women to vote away their own rights.
It seems your take on this is that those women think that they are not giving away their own rights and it's only women of other races who will lose their rights.
That line of thought leads me to one important question: Can a white woman in Texas have an abortion?
If the answer is no, then some rights of white women have already been voted away. If the answer is yes, then the law is enforced selectively, which would be an interesting story for the media to cover.

@kasperd @mekkaokereke the US white women voting for white supremacy at the cost of women's rights have a range of ways to justify it. Some of them believe the leopards won't eat their face, but others are fully aware of the bargain they are making: white men will control their lives, but white women will have power over people of color, and get to share in some of the ill-gotten gains of white men. Their children will get that too. That's the deal that white supremacy offers white women

@kasperd @mekkaokereke yes. It's the US, white people in the US are racist as fuck. White people closed public swimming pools so they wouldn't have to swim with Black people. White people vote over and over again to make their lives worse just so that they can keep being racist. It's the overwhelming through line since our founding. It's in our constitution and our laws and our everyday life. It overrides class or gender solidarity for most white Americans

That's a scary thought. Can it really be true that there are over 30 million women who are so racist that they are willing to give away their own freedom to get white supremacy?
