     @CrimethInc Using signal is better than using nothing, but it is not possible to use signal anonymously. The sim card requirement creates a link between your legal identity, your phones mac address, your signal user name, and your approximate physical location. Signal creates a lot of unnecessary meta data that cops can easily cross reference with other data they have access to.

     I wish people would stop spreading the fiction that signal is magically gonna keep you safe, it isn't. It's just encryption, nothing more, nothing less.

     Relaying this from people smarter than me about these things: It's a bad idea to normalize scanning QR codes un random flyers. At minimum, have the URL printed out so people can manually type it in.
