     Cookout is IMO the ultimate meetup. It's also just plain fun to cook a lot of food. I would probably do a whole lechón or something like that.

     @lain @nerthos gas is expensive and the shops near the tourist towns are expensive but so many vegetables and animal products are locally made it is dirt cheap. we can get a weeks worth of groceries for about 15 dollars

     @lain @nerthos things can grow here year round and since lots of people are poor they grow their own stuff and sell the excess very cheaply. theres a farmers market in Susupe every saturday where 10 dollars gets you like 15-18 eggplants, 4 ears of corn, a bunch of bokchoy and cabbage, and local chilis

     @nerthos @lain the expensive stuff here is the imported meat and the frozen stuff that isnt local. since I dont eat meat its not a problem. it is kind of a pain to pay like 3 dollars for two tomatoes though.
