   I was just about to lecture my kids on how the new songs on the radio actually being 80's covers.

   Until I found out that "originals" too were covers of older songs. 😳

     @thanius There’s songs like Black Betty and House of the Rising Sun that get covered fairly regularly, damn songs are older than my country.

     @si_fuller As I was reading this, I was listening to "Call and We'll Play" on Swedish PR. The caller was asking for "I Will Always Love You" with no further context and the host directly assumes that it's the Whitney Houston version they want to hear 😂

     I mean, the host is probably not wrong, but the Dolly Parton original is just as known and popular for the demographic of the caller

     @si_fuller Me too! And I don't think the host was unaware of the original, I just thought it was ironic since we were just discussing the issue with covers overshining their originals 😂
