   Howdy #UnionPlace (and prospective Union Placers)!

   I just discovered that email confirmations haven't been going out since we upgraded to Mastodon 4.3 a couple of weeks ago. The issue has been fixed and stuck confirmation mails are going out now, but if you recently signed up or tried to login and couldn't get email, please try again or let me know and I can resend as appropriate.

     For you geeks: it wasn't DNS. It was SMTP. If it's not DNS, it's always SMTP.

     Well technically it wasn't really SMTP either, it was Mastodon's implementation of SMTP, poor documentation, and undocumented features changing behavior between versions.

     @bob yeah I've "always" had it working, routing through Gmail (workspace) with an IP allow-list.

     Are you saying that you got your SMTP working? I've not been able to for about 2 years 😭

     We even host our own email service.
