Charlie Stross@Patricia Insofar as Brexit was swung by the protest vote against years of grinding Tory-inflicted austerity (remember, the Tory prime minister who called the vote backed "Remain": a lot of people voted "Leave" just to stick it to the man), then yes: this was the USA's equivalent of the Brexit protest vote.
