@PhenomX6@mint Chrome has "claimed" to be Cuckzilla in its useragent since forever, there's nothing new about it. Also, useragents can very easily be spoofed anyway, so only complete idiots would even rely on it.
@mint Here's the issue; now that the secret's out, what's stopping a fedi developer from saying in the user agent that he's using Mastodon?
I mean, Chrome says it's Mozilla now too and AppleWebKit for this very reason. Same with Edge Legacy before Microsoft went to being another Chromium browser.
@ryo@mint@PhenomX6 If you want to remember what web browsers used to look like, there's always Otter. Remember when you could configure your browser without installing 40 extensions? Somehow they get more bloated while losing basic features.
@TerminalAutism@PhenomX6@mint Because nowadays it's no longer about the user experience, it's now all about being able to render the latest JavaScript cruft to please the soydevs.
@TerminalAutism@ryo@PhenomX6@mint If any semi-independent browsers (different browser but with same mainstream engine) implement the functions from uMatrix, it'd be nice...
@udon@TerminalAutism@PhenomX6@mint I'm personally done with mainstream engines, the longer you use it on your PC, the more RAM they start to use for simply just running.
@mint so this is old but a friend of mine was trying to federate with someone who ran this shit on his instance and had a spergout when he asked why because this dude drank so much kool aid he believed moe domain's exist for bullying LGBTQ++ people. Since he wouldn't take no for an answer, he came up with a solution: change the user agent and it what the software identifies as. Suddenly federation instantly worked.
@PhenomX6@mint > moe domain's exist for bullying LGBTQ++ people
Moe domains exist for the otaku class, it's just that the rainbow terrorists just get offended by literally everything they didn't fully subvert yet. https://get.moe/ (Requires JS for some stupid reason.)
