@justafrog The album is variable in that it has a bunch of songs that are wild stylistic departures from The Cure's normal trio of sounds/genres. But I mean the fucking thing is called "Wild Mood Swings" so I think Smith told me that was gonna be the story before I bought it.
My position has always been "give me six good tracks, and I'll be happy; if you put more tracks on the album and I like them, it's a bonus, but I need six good ones to not feel ripped off." WMS has more than 6.
@justafrog Agree wholeheartedly; but the Cure as a band have three different phases/modes they typically play in, and many of the fans are VERY protective of their favorite phase. Because Wild Mood Swings was not any one of those three phases, it pissed everyone off.
I happen to like it; except the 3 or so tracks I don't, but again, this brings us back to the "can you give me 6 good songs" rule for albums. It's a 14 track album, so I don't see why not liking, even hating 3 or so of them matters
@AnarchoNinaWrites If I'm fond of a band, I'd rather they try things than stay identical all the time.
Like, if I want something just like the previous album, I have something magical, called "the fucking previous album, right?" which works to scratch that itch.
