Take time to grieve—or hold out hope at the margins—before you read this. But after that you will want to look at options.

For those who want to leave:

The Netherlands, Germany, and (with some restrictions around what you do) Ireland can all be relatively straightforward options.

If you are capable of moving but can't quite leave the country, consider Colorado. We've got our act together in a way very few US states—even consistently blue US states—do.

If you really, really need to get out fast and aren't picky about where you land so long as it isn't here, consider Svalbard. Living there is quite difficult, but _getting_ there is incredibly straightforward.

If you have significant money or specialized skills you have more options, and there are a bunch of countries that actively try to make it easy to immigrate.

There are also a variety of south and central American countries, but I'm less familiar with those options.

Not everyone has the ability (or desire) to leave the country or even to change states. They _also_ need support.

If you aren't unionized, you need to get unionized. Bluntly: stop making excuses. Unionize. It doesn't matter if the NLRB is completely dismantled. Unionize. Our power comes from solidarity, not a flimsy law.

If you want help with this let me know and I'm happy to provide resources or help you with talking to union professionals.

Get involved in politics. You have a right to petition, use it to change your state constitutions. Florida almost passed that abortion amendment, falling just shy of a 60% threshold. Others have succeeded here as well.

Run for office. Not for president: run for city dogcatcher, any local position. Run for _something_.

Don't like how the DNC runs things? Great, get involved with the DNC and change it. Do that now, don't wait four years and then realize it is too late

Support mutual aid organizations. Even imperfect mutual aid organizations. Get involved in your local soup kitchen. Talk to the diaconate of the churches in your area. Hell, if you are oriented that way, _get involved_ in your church's community outreach programs.

Or help them start them if they don't have them already.

Whatever it is: get involved, have a plan to be involved.

Make sure we have the house and senate in 2026. Don't like the field of potentials for 2028? Start now to make sure that it is different, then fall in line when the time comes.

But whatever it is you decide to do: make a plan to be involved.

I will not tell you what you "must" do in terms of going or staying. Really even the pieces I'm putting out here are just suggestions of possibilities

But the core of it is this:

Get involved. Have a plan. Cherish life.

Don't succumb to fascism. Don't do their work for them

But also: don't let this stagnate. Don't sit there in fear if you can avoid it. Find something to do. Something that gets you out of your head and out of your anxiety. Whatever that is.

      But first: grieve
