Today I voted on a Dominion "Voting machine", in quotes be

obviously, in the country where we pretend to have invented AI, voting starts with a line, e-voting

line not bc so many people were voting, the machine reported 93

instead greater demand for pen+paper voting:

    Table+DungeonMasterScreen+Pen

they could have setup more, but..complex

what is truly odd, the voting machine, prints out a paper ballot. not similar, the same

thanks Dominion printing machine, im sure its worth every penny

@mike805 I'm a little confused, I never suggested or said there was anything wrong with it. I simply reported my experience

I understand why people think its safer

Though I also understand that makes little sense because at any moment we could have a completely secure voting system, using PKI, the government uses it everywhere for security + authentication .. but not voting

i would expect anyone hacking an election system to just be efficient, and manipulate the database of results directly

@ekis There is absolutely nothing wrong with mark sense voting. It does not require electricity or sysadmins. It can be counted at machine speed, and examined by hand if the election is close enough to warrant that. Best of all, it can be supervised using basic human skills like counting and observation. You do not have to trust a machine or an expert.

@mike805 I think both ways are silly to be honest

But spending 100,000 USD+ or whatever the value is, I tried to look but didn't care enough, for a "voting machine" that is quite literally a printer connected to an android device

Why not just know most of the people on the voting roster are elderly, and setup more pen+paper voting stations

What I find silly is the illusion America is the richest, best, most advanced country on earth; which people truly believe here, contrasted with reality

@mike805 I get it, I'm just trying to understand what your position is a little better, so I don't miss your point.

@ekis Not attacking, just arguing for my preferred system.

We could fix a lot of things with a universal PKI system. People would scream "big brother mark of the beast" if they tried, but giving everyone a security token would solve a LOT of problems. From IRS fraud to voting.

Offer a prize of one billion dollars for anyone who could crack it.

@rayotron I don't disagree at all, I wanted to use the machine, poke at it

Then found out it was just a printer :(

I voted with pen and paper. The machines make people distrustful of the election process. That's a good enough reason to get rid of them.

Ah fuck, Associated Press has just called Pennsylvania for Trump... I should say President Trump. Pop some popcorn, the shitshow's about to begin.🍿

@rayotron I wanted to see how many characters it would accept for the write-in field but I ran out of time and didn't want to be the cause of other people waiting

Oh, just a printer? That's pretty weird, and funny. Why not just use typewriters?

Sounds like you need to break into the place tonight and spend a few hours with the machine.
