Do you want to build up a list? Do it, it's up to you
Do you ask the developers to transform the fediverse to a copy of twitter? It's not up to you

@ReverseModule @foufoutos I'm catching up to these comments, I responded to this already, but repeating here: the Mastodon admins and project leads can't have it both ways. They can't celebrate exponential growth made possible by notable accounts while shadowbanning efforts to maintain brand integrity (via backroom de-federation agreements and other means)

@DataDrivenMD @foufoutos I mean a server with millions of users or followers on it would be kind of impossible to maintain for you as well I think.
In any case I don't agree with promotion of specific people which is what this essentially is. People need to get off the Twitter mindset of things being advertised to them. Creators making their own server is the best solution on many levels. I just think previously verified people are kind of spoiled coming from other platforms. No offense meant.

@ReverseModule @foufoutos It's literally just a list of Twitter verified people that have migrated to Mastodon, and want their followers to find them easily. Their brands are valuable, and imposters could easily wreak havoc via imposter accounts.
If it's easier for me to set up a Mastodon server, then I can do that instead. But that feels even *less* aligned with fediverse principles.

@DataDrivenMD @foufoutos I think I have misunderstood what you're trying to do tbh. Is this just a list that will be publicly available so that "important" people can be found easily or is this a server of Twitter verified people?

@ReverseModule @foufoutos That's an incomplete understanding of the dynamics at play. It it's increasingly clear that server admins are surreptitiously going out of their way to make verification difficult. That's a much, much bigger problem than anything I'm doing b/c the actions are being taken in private, without making users aware. Users should be made aware that there are some servers who welcome impersonators and imposter accounts.

@DataDrivenMD @foufoutos Oh sorry, I tagged my server admin. Nothing to do with you. I personally voted No cause I really think the only thing verified accounts offer is promotion and forming of public opinion but I'm sure a solution will be found fo those not wanting to participate/see toots from it. :)
