If a peaceful revolution is possible, then that would be preferable, but most of the historical and modern-day revolutions suggest that the likelihood of a revolution being peaceful is not high. A Tattered Scrapbook (tattered@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 04-Nov-2024 12:00:15 JST A Tattered Scrapbook @Radical_EgoCom @anarchistquotes As Walter Benjamin elegantly shows in his work on violence, the violence of the state is already present in society. It only “appears” sporadically, but it is always already there. Ask the BDS protesters. People calling for social change are unlikely to be treated kinder than students have been. And remember Clinton has effectively justified political violence, killing “civilians” to get to “terrorists”. Violence will not bow to peace.
