Re-watched Civil War. I think it does a good job of showing how chaotic it would be if there was another civil war

#Mao was similar to #Hitler, in the sense that both were soldiers at one point - enlisted men - and neither had previously held authority in the military hierarchy before their demagogic rise to power.
Mao was at one point, an primary school teacher.
Mao, at one point, entered politics in what was more or less a ridealong, appearing alongside an army warlord invading a neighboring province. He orchestrated a protest march / sedition rally in the invaded province.
Crazy stuff.Dayalicia Tohka Mitsuki likes this. -

I'm less informed about the Spanish Civil War, but the rise of #Mao was preceded by the #collapse of the Chinese state; the #RepublicOfChina existed in name only after the fall of the #Qing dynasty.
Chiang KaiShek was not, in fact, a loyal general under the command of the #ROC; he invaded the de-jure capital, a la Caesar, and formed a new government during what became known as the #Nanjing decade.
Then he lost. -

That said, I think an active shooting war is extremely unlikely no matter how far down the shitter The Discourse goes. Even when our #socialtrust is lower than in southern Lebanon.
It already is, I think; #Lebanese people are proud of their #history and #culture -

But there are also zero skirmishes. The Maoist cultural revolution started with guerilla warfare and skirmishes. So did the Spanish civil war. Etc etc etc... It is not a switch. There are skirmishes and little battles. Not violent turf wars (that's a nightly event in inner cities) but between real Malitias (not Feds) against cops or Feds etc...

Isn't that the one where the Evil Prez eats lead just moments after the do-gooder journalists arrive to interview him?
The entire movie they're making a trek to question him and get answers in his own words. Anti-climactic, to say the least. -

But it would be chaotic as hell.
