     @stephenfry From what I see, you moved your website from out the "profile metadata" area and into the general text of the bio. Verification only works on the former!

     Would be great if there was an actual verification process for people, not for websites, in the Fediverse. Right now it seems like a mess.

     @Gargron How am I to verify myself with a YouTube-Channel? Not possible. But YT is where I'm known from. Everyone can claim to be me.

     Besides, personal verification will be an issue on every platform, until it is solved.

     Yes and no.

     Current Mastodon verification is just proving you own a website, but just because Bob owns CoolShrimp.com doesn't mean he's verifiable.

     This is where Twitter's Verification shined (sort of); notable people could prove who they say they were and got verification. And when you can have shared usernames across the Fediverse, you need some way to verify the official ones from the unofficial.
